From June 1 to September 30 2023, enjoy the terraces and activities on pedestrian Saint-Denis and Émery streets!

The most festive street atmosphere in town is back in the Latin Quarter this summer! Saint-Denis and Émery streets will host free outdoor events, including the 14th edition of Montréal Completely Circus Festival in July, the Baroque brigade, Happy Hour concerts from Thursday to Saturday starting June 1, 4 weekly guided tours and more.

The street is pedestrian from noon to 6 am daily on Saint-Denis street, between Sherbrooke E and De Maisonneuve E boulevard.

The pedestrian street is easily accessible by Berri-UQAM or Sherbrooke metro station, or through bike paths on Ontario and Berri streets. There are over 2 000 underground parking spaces available in the area also if you come by car.

 

The pedestrian area is adorned with flowers, plants, around fifty terraces, and benches everywhere. The award-winning Agora Maximus urban furniture will be installed at the end of July, a series of small cubes welcoming passers, flowers and shrubs that combat urban heat islands. This project is a design by the talented LAAB Collective in collaboration with Signature Design Communication.

 

Thursday to Saturday, a musical atmosphere takes over the street with entertainment from 5 pm to 9 pm

Ambulatory concerts all summer from 5 to 7 pm, starting June 2. Styles: fanfare, jazz and pop.

Street entertainment and performances between 7 and 9 pm, ranging from circus to dance, always there to amaze you.

 

Guided tours of the Latin Quarter (French only)

Discover the shops and the effervescent history of the district with 2 different tours throughout the summer. Reservations required, available at the end of May for free tours.

May 31, June 12 and 18: the Baroque Brigade of the Montreal Baroque Festival

Discover the musicians of the baroque brigade on May 31 and June 12 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as on Sunday June 18 in the morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

 

June 9 to 11: YÉ! Year-end celebrations in the Latin Quarter

In a festive atmosphere, join the students to celebrate the end of classes with live music and festivities! Young francophone musicians will perform of the upcoming Maison de la chanson et de la musique du Québec and crowd performers will be all over the pedestrian street.

 

July 6 to 16: Montreal Completely Circus

For the 14th edition, a free program on rue Saint-Denis will amaze you every day from 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. Several shows also take place in venues throughout Montreal.

 

July 22: Agora Maximus furniture installation

Agora Maximus street furniture will be back to beautify Saint-Denis sreet. The modules for passers-by and plants are perfect places where you can eat or read, or chat with friends.

 

July 28: Montreal in a box!

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can do the activity Put Montreal in a box?! It’s a bit of a crazy challenge that the MEM team has given itself to present the future museum to you! This summer, citizen bikes invite you to discover their mystery box which should pique your curiosity, awaken many memories and give you a taste of the museum.

The box will contain objects from our collection that are very evocative of Montreal.

 

September 7 and 8: Back to school in the Latin Quarter

The 2nd edition of the start of the school year will be celebrated in a friendly atmosphere, on a pedestrian Saint-Denis street sporting a green layout, students, Montrealers and visitors are invited to enjoy a rich cultural program mixing music, dance and street entertainment.
