Meritas prize won by Camellia Sinensis

Creation of a Meritas Prize

For the first time this year, the  Quartier latin’s development society board of Directors created a Meritas prize. The purpose of the award is to publicly recognize a business that has distinguished itself through its influence, participation and success. It also aims to celebrate pride and a sense of belonging to the neighbourhood.

The prize was awarded and presented to Camellia Sinensis during the annual general meeting on March 28, 2023 at the conference center of the Grande Bibliothèque.

A growing business founded in the Quartier latin

Camellia Sinensis opened its doors on November 16, 1998 on Émery street in the Quartier latin. Their commitment to the neighborhood is evident in everything they do, from their participation in initiatives put in place by the development society to their support of economic development projects for our neighborhood.

The specialized shop offers a vast selection of the best vintages of white tea, green tea, black tea, Wulong (Oolong), Pu Er and Matcha chosen directly from the gardens of China, Japan, India and Taiwan by their team of tasters.

They also have a tea school, find the schedules of the workshops, ceremonies and tastings of the Schools of Montreal and Quebec. You will also find health studies and other information on tea preparation.

Their blog is a real place to share about the world of tea. Find out more about their travels to producing countries, gastronomic pairings with tea, its effects on health, their suggestions and discoveries, and more.

An inspiration for entrepreneurs

We are extremely proud to have them in the Quartier latin and we are convinced that their example will inspire other entrepreneurs in our community to continue working to improve our neighborhood.
